Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea: Baking to raise funds

Tomorrow is the official date for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. This is an event for the Cancer Council, in order to raise funds for cancer research, prevention and support services. However, don’t worry if you haven’t got a gathering to go to tomorrow – they are happening throughout May and June.

In the UK, Macmillan Cancer Support runs the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ – the 2014 date for that is 26th September. I’m not sure if an equivalent is held in the USA, (or any other countries for that matter), but if you know of anything then please leave a comment below.

As well as attending one of these events to eat and donate, why not take a plate of baked goods to share? Here are some recipes to inspire you.

This Marmalade Sponge Cake is a twist on a classic, and the recipe actually came from a Macmillan fundraising book.

If you don’t want to make a cake from scratch, try my Cheat’s Choc Cherry Ripple Cake, or Caramel Cupcakes.

For something sugar free, try this Orange and Honey Tea Cake.

Finally, you can’t go wrong with sprinkles – bake a Funfetti Coconut Loaf.

Anyway, whether you decide to bake or not, enjoy!
